Philosophies

I want to help my students, be a mentor to them, and aid them in discovering a love of learning and mathematics. I believe that an educator possesses the opportunity not only to communicate the assigned subject material, but to affect the lives of their students, if they are willing to open themselves up to the class. Creating a loving environment is the first step to fostering a caring society.

Teach the whole student; not only focus on academics, but assists students in developing social and emotional skills.

  • Speak to students individually, whenever possible

  • Meet with students before or after school, as needed

Help harness the potential in each student and help them recognize it in themselves.

  • Encourage students to add the word “yet” to negative thoughts such as “I don’t get it…yet” or “I can’t do this…yet”

  • Let disengaged students know that I will not give up on them and that they are capable of success

Create a community of learners that freely explores, critiques, and expresses ideas.

  • Encourage participation through the sharing of ideas as a community of learners

  • Facilitate classroom discussion in a positive and constructive manner
